Edifecs' John Kelly to Speak at WEDI's Educational and Informational Forum on Health Data Interoperability

WEDI Board Member and Edifecs expert will explain how new standards and nascent technologies will impact data sharing and outcomes across the healthcare delivery ecosystem Edifecs, Inc., a global health information technology solutions company, announces the participation of its Principal Business Advisor, John Kelly at the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) 2019 Summer Forum, July 30-31, 2019 in Chicago. Kelly will join thought leaders from across the industry in helping health plans prepare to share information across payers, providers and patients in this two-day event. The WEDI 2019 Summer Forum: Bridging EDI to API- Working for Today, Preparing for Tomorrow, continues WEDI's education on information and challenges related to implementing the ONC and CMS proposed rules on patient data interoperability by 2020. WHAT: Open Discussion/Listening Session; New Technology- How the Standards Work Together (July 30, 2019, 4:00-5:00 p.m.): This will be an open discussion on how this new technology may impact current healthcare standards. Representatives will offer their thoughts on how the APIs and the new technology will work within their structure. Kelly will moderate a panel with the following experts:

A Breakfast Bowl of Cures Act Alphabet Soup: BB 2.0, CPCDS and NPRM APIs (July 31, 2019, 8:00-8:45 a.m.): Most payers are confused about the requirements and timing of the new proposed rules and the best way to align them with other initiatives that support scalable, affordable patient data transparency. Progressive thinking is starting to link investments in patient data transparency with the administration of new payment models. In this breakfast session, Kelly will showcase results of a recent Edifecs survey that highlight that 46% of payers surveyed indicated they are most concerned about meeting the bi-directional health information sharing requirement. Most are still learning about the rules and few are thinking about how they could leverage the new payer, provider, patient data exchange requirements to support efforts to drive new care payment models. State of Prior Authorizations (July 31, 2019, 8:45-9:45 a.m.): This session is an opportunity to provide a high-level overview on the state of prior authorization as it relates to different initiative in work and grass roots perspective. Mr. Kelly provides strategic consulting to Edifecs customers, specializing in information exchange and applying the principles of supply chain integration to the healthcare delivery lifecycle. His wide-ranging experience includes serving as CIO of healthcare network provider NaviNet, director of eBusiness Architecture at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, and managing director of his own health IT consulting firm. Kelly also served as the architect and technical lead for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' statewide HIE project, developing a shared infrastructure for the Commonwealth, which supported both the health information exchange and health insurance exchanges.
